Brews & Bites on tap at Pennsbury Manor

Posted

Kick off the Independence Day holiday week at the 10th annual Brews & Bites twilight tasting event June 29 at Pennsbury Manor in Morrisville.

Held al fresco at the idyllic riverfront home of Pennsylvania’s founder William Penn, this sunset fundraiser from 4-8 p.m. features local beer tasting, food trucks, and live music by classic rock and Motown band August.

Historic highlights include 17th-century beer brewing demonstrations by brewers in period attire and tastings of three historic recipe beers made by Pennsbury’s Brewing Club:Gulielma Penn’s Apple Beer, March Beer (peas and oatmeal give this a brew a wheat beer vibe) and Pepper and Coriander Spiced Beer (a dark beer with a pleasantly peppery finish).

Participating breweries, wineries and distilleries include Sly Fox Brewing Company, Bitchin Kitten Brewery, Red White and Brew Beer Company, Mermaid Spirits, Philadelphia Mead Company, Samsaric Brewing Company, Broad Street Brewing, Understable Brewing, Yards Brewing Company, Odd Logic Brewing Company, Manic Minds Brewing Company, Second Sin Brewing Company, Ship Bottom Brewery, Blackledge Winery, Manoff Market Cidery, Naked Brewing Company and Bishop Estate Vineyard and Winery.

Food trucks include: Spuddy Buddy Fry Truck, Jays Joint Food Truck, Baltimore North Food Truck and Olde City Kettle Corn.

This is a 21 and older event. Tickets, $40, include unlimited drink sampling; $20 tickets that come with unlimited water and soft drinks are available for designated drivers.

The event supports educational tours and programming at Pennsbury Manor for more than 10,000 school children annually.
