Posted

Christopher and Danielle Ives of Solebury announce the commissioning of their eldest daughter, Sydney Ives, as an ensign into the U.S. Navy.

Ives is a 2020 graduate of Central Bucks High School East. She attended The College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., on a full scholarship from the Department of the Navy. Sydney completed her degree this May with a double major in Economics and Russian and was the Battalion Commander of the ROTC unit her senior year. While attending Holy Cross she participated in the women’s club basketball and lacrosse teams, was a board member of both the Holy Cross’s Benching for Breast Cancer, and of the Women in Business organizations.

Ives completed additional NROTC training each summer exposing her to life underway on submarines, Naval aviation, Marine Corps units, and a cruise on a guided missile destroyer. She will be completing Surface Warfare Officer training in San Diego before reporting to her permanent duty station aboard the Destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

She will continue her father’s family tradition of service being the fourth generation of continued voluntary military service.
