Check your sources; Beware of pink slime journalism

Posted

Independent voters, beware of “Pink Slime” partisan fake news organizations masquerading as legitimate local news. These sites are taking advantage of the closings of local newspapers. (All the more reason to keep the Herald going.)

If you receive messages on Facebook, Instagram, unsolicited texts or emails from Metric Media, Courier Newsroom, Local Government Information Services, Main Street Sentinel, The Keystone and The American Independent be aware you may not be reading authentic news.

Their funding is provided by right- and left-wing advocacy groups. Funded by partisan groups to employ social media to undermine trust in news, these sites spread false and one-sided coverage.

Check your sources, investigate where your news is coming from.
