Joseph Coco to discuss his Full Moon Series

Frenchtown Public Library is celebrating Joseph Coco’s 50th anniversary of The Full Moon Series with a presentation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Admission is free to all, and refreshments will be served. The artist will discuss 132 paintings, drawings and prints in the series, shown in PowerPoint.

Many images feature Bucks County and Frenchtown, N.J., when the artist moved there in 2015. The library is located at 29 Second St., Frenchtown, N.J.

The Full Moon Series started December of 1972 in Flagstaff, Ariz. No other artist has ever dedicated 50-years to this subject, which includes Coco’s interests in archetypes, astronomy, biography, geography, ritual, synesthesia and music as principal themes.

Every December as the full moon rises, the artist paints a synopsis of the year. Since 2000, the artist has been including January full moons, with an image that anticipates what the year will look like.

A 260-page full color coffee table art book has been published this year by Flying Game Press.

A singer-songwriter and artist, Coco is an adjunct professor teaching art appreciation, studio and history of rock and rap courses at Centenary University and Montclair State University since 1999.
