Joseph J. Duffy

Joseph J. Duffy of New Hope, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in Vitas Hospice, Philadelphia, PA. He was 96 years old.

Born in Philadelphia to the late Michael and Sadie (Romaine) Duffy, Joseph was a lifelong resident of New Hope, PA.

Joseph grew up and attended and stayed at Girard

College in Philadelphia for young boys. He later joined the US Army, where he served during World War II and met his first wife Elizabeth in Europe. After the war, Joseph graduated with a law degree from Temple University. He was formerly employed with the legal department for Colonial Savings of Philadelphia and later Clark Ladner Fortenbaugh & Young Law Firm where he practiced law before his retirement. Joseph still practiced law after retirement and became elected on the Solebury Township Board of Supervisors in 1987.

He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Duffy, Ruth Campbell and Kaarina Ederma; he is also survived by his dear friends.

A viewing will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 am, with a service to begin at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Solebury Friends Graveyard, Solebury, PA.
