Knights of Columbus make donation

Posted

The Knights of Columbus Hennessey Council (St. Vincent’s Parish, Richboro, and St. Andrew’s Parish, Newtown) recently presented a $1,000 donation to the Poor Clare Sisters at their monastery in Langhorne.

This religious order is officially known as the Order of St. Francis of Assisi and was founded in 1212 by St. Clare who was the sister of St. Francis. The nuns pray several times daily and take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.

They support themselves by donations and making communion hosts consecrated during Catholic Mass.

The monastery is located next to St. Mary Medical Center at 1271 Langhorne-Newtown Road, Langhorne.
