National Shrine to celebrate ordination of new member

The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa will celebrate the ordination to the priesthood of Brother Deacon Maksymilian Ogar at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22.

He will be ordained a priest of the Order of St. Paul the First Hermit, founders of American Czestochowa in Doylestown.

The solemn and joyful occasion will be the third ordination liturgy at the Shrine since 2004. The Celebrant of this Eucharist and of the Sacrament of Holy Orders will be the Most Rev. Andrzej Zglejszewski, auxiliary bishop of Rockville Centre, N.Y.

Brother Deacon Maksymilian Ogar OSPPE (Latin initials for Order of St. Paul the First Hermit) was born on Oct. 6, 1988 in Tarnow, Poland, the son of Tomasz and Gabriela. He was baptized into the Holy Catholic Church at Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Wierszchoslawice, Poland.

He began his postulancy on Jan. 19, 2017, at the Pauline Monastery at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa and returned to Poland for a yearlong novitiate in Lesniow, making his first religious profession in September 2018. He studied at the Major Seminary of the Pauline Order in Krakow.

On March 25, 2023, he made his Solemn Profession at the hands of The Rev. Arnold Chrapkowski, the General Superior of the Pauline Order at Jasna Gora in Czestochowa, and on May 8, 2023 was ordained to the Diaconate at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Stanislaus in Krakow.
