Northampton Township community honors Hometown Heroes interred at Union Cemetery

Nearly 200 people attended the Northampton Township Veterans Advisory Commission’s Hometown Heroes Wreath Laying Ceremony, honoring first responders and military laid to rest at the Union Cemetery.

The 20-minute ceremony, held on Dec. 2, was emceed by Thomas Yaegel. The colors were posted by the Marine Corps League Patriot Detachment 1230 and the anthem was sung by Lisa Garner. The bagpiper was Jim Rembisz and keynote speaker was Tri-Hampton Rescue Chief Jason Dowd. Members of the Northampton Township Police, Fire and EMS also attended with special vehicles on display.

The wreaths were placed at the headstones marked with an American flag. The Veterans Advisory Commission, Northampton supervisors and Public Works employees Rich Sweeten and Patrick Johnson helped make the event possible.
