Elementary students from New Hope-Solebury School District participated in an interactive assembly titled “Books: The Magic Is Real with Joe Romano.” Romano used humor and magic tricks to highlight the plots and characters of famous children’s books, such as “Harry Potter,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” and “Holes.”

Green Lane resident Paula Stoneback was one of more than 100 St. Luke’s University Health Network employees who participated in Read Across America week. Stoneback, a senior financial analyst at SLUHN, has written four children’s books. She read her book, “Suzie Q Buckaroo, Sleepover at the Zoo, Part 1,” to students at Quakertown Elementary School.

On March 2, Hunterdon County Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl attended an event at Tabby’s Place, a cat sanctuary located in East Amwell Township, N.J., for a celebration in recognition of Read Across America Day and famous children’s author, Dr. Seuss’s birthday. The event invited children ages 5-12 to read to lovable cats, enjoy treats and prizes, and meet the “Cat in the Hat” himself.

For Read Across America Week, Woodside Christian Preschool in Yardley transformed a room into a campfire setting complete with sleeping bags, lanterns and a virtual campfire. Parents came into the school throughout the morning to read to their child’s class and share their favorite stories.
