Rembrandt Beer brewing slated at William Penn’s estate

Posted

Pennsbury Manor’s brewing club, Quakers Behaving Badlye Brewing Co., will demonstrate a recipe for Rembrandt Beer, a new brew that they’ve created in honor of an iconic Rembrandt painting, 1-4 p.m. July 28.

The Rembrandt Beer will approximate the shade of beer depicted in “The Prodigal Son in the Tavern,” a painting created by Dutch Master Rembrandt van Rijn in 1635.

At Pennsbury Manor, William Penn’s reconstructed estate on the Delaware River in Bucks County, the volunteer-led brewing club demonstrates Colonial beer brewing for the public on the fourth Sunday of the month from April until November. The club, which dresses in Colonial attire, brews a new beer each month in a style chosen by a different member.

The event includes a demonstration, but not tasting. The program is included with admission to Pennsbury Manor, 400 Pennsbury Memorial Road, Morrisville. Tours are offered at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.
