Three new members appointed to Flemington DIY Board of Directors

Posted

Flemington DIY announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Jeffrey Cogen, Megan Henninger, and Justine Rosikiewicz.

Elected at the organization’s June board meeting, all three have been involved as dedicated volunteers before becoming part of the board of directors. As volunteers they make Flemington DIY a more accessible, welcoming, and fun place.

Cogen has been a resident of Flemington since 1992. “I got involved with DIY in early 2023 when we started the monthly open jazz jam sessions,” said Cogen. “I am joining the board because I have been impressed by what DIY provides to the community and I want to help the organization to continue to thrive.”

Henninger moved to Flemington in 2021. Henninger got involved in DIY to create a community of comedians in 2023. “I joined the board because I love the mission of DIY. I want to help others who are trying to find their creative selves embrace their own voice,” said Henninger. Apart from stand-up comedy and Flemington DIY, she is writing a book.

Rosikiewicz is DIY’s Accessibility Lead as well as the host of the monthly American Sign Languages Chats. Her goal is to make sure that DIY is accessible to the community and that people can communicate using American Sign Language in a supportive environment. She first joined Flemington DIY as a high school student in 2016 and reconnected after graduating from college.

“My passion for education, art, and accessibility aligns with DIY’s mission and is what inspired me to join the board. I look forward to engaging with the community in new and exciting ways,” said Rosikiewicz.

The Flemington DIY Board of Directors is a dedicated team of community members committed to providing an inclusive and accessible arts space for Flemington Borough and beyond. The Flemington DIY Board of Directors are Jeff Hersch (executive director), Bill Auld, Jeff Cogen (treasurer), Ruth Cooper, Ellen Gallos (secretary), Megan Henninger, Delfina Picchio, Justine Rosikiewicz, and Judd Roth.

Flemington DIY is seeking more new board members in an open call to the community. The all-volunteer run organization is looking to diversify and expand the existing Board of Directors leadership with new members with experience in, but not limited to, the arts, board development, finance, fundraising, and event planning.

“We have grown exponentially over the last couple of years and with that comes the need for new ideas, new perspectives, and expanded leadership,” said Hersch.
