Have you ever thought about being a poll worker? The Bucks County Board of Elections would like to hear from you. They especially need poll workers in Bristol Township, Falls, Middletown and Warminster.
You can serve as a poll worker on Tuesday, May 17. This is Primary Election Day, where citizens who have registered as Republicans or Democrats have the opportunity to decide which candidates will represent their party in the upcoming General Election in November.
Since voters not affiliated with either major party are not eligible to vote in the Primary, it is likely that there will be fewer voters than in the November General Election, allowing you to gain experience as a poll worker under more relaxed conditions.
Being a poll worker is a great opportunity to experience democracy “hands on” and to be a part of making our precious voting process fair, accurate and convenient.
If you vote regularly, you may have noticed that many of the same people serve as poll workers over the years. Why? Because working the polls is a positive, rewarding experience. All that is required is that you be registered to vote in the county where you wish to serve.
Your time commitment is only some virtual training on the computer, at your convenience, and the one day of voting (May 17). You have the option of working the full day (from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.) or a half-day (either 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You will be paid $195 for the full day and $97.50 for a half day.
